Scope of Work

A major component of the complexity of this project was the number of departments and agencies involved in the development of the project. Epic Engineering serves as City Engineer for Syracuse City. Through this role, Epic Engineering was involved in all aspects of this project including design, bid approval, project and construction management. Our engineers were an intricate part of the development and design of this project.
Jensen Nature Park was initially designed by Syracuse City as storage for the secondary water system. As the project grew and developed, Syracuse City in cooperation with the State of Utah Division of Natural Resources, developed the concept of a public fishery. The Natural Resources Division offered equipment, staff and financial assistance to create a multi use facility designed not only for water storage but as a community-friendly park.
As part of the development of the pond, a perimeter drain was added and constructed by B.D. Bush Excavating, Inc. to help lower the groundwater table. A Terenap Pond Liner was added through the assistance of Utah State Natural Resources. Syracuse City added the parking areas.
The parking lot portion of the project was awarded to Staker and Parson Companies. Syracuse City did extensive landscaping and land architecture for this project through MGB Architects. The landscaping for this project was very detailed and has created a beautiful environment for members of the community to enjoy. The addition of the wet well and pump station for the secondary water system was added after the initial pond was in place. The pump station provides alternative water sources for the groundwater perimeter pond. A very unique and visually pleasing part of this project was the development of the water fall which is how the irrigation water and other sources are supplied to the pond. During the final phase of the project, Syracuse City added public restrooms and a conference facility for the park.
